Community Development

Community Development Officer's word

Jaime Segura
Community Development Officer

Dear Friends,

In this last communication as regional representative of Community Development (CD), I wish to thank each of my colleagues of the International CD Commission and the Regional Board for the shared moments and lesson learned during the process of guiding and maintaining AOSpine as a leading organization for education.

To each of the members, from Mexico to the South Cone, I extend special greetings and invite them to continue to be part of this community, which for me has become a large family. Generally, we become a member because a friend or mentor has introduced us to AOSpine, but the dynamics that I have seen in the development of options that become a benefit for each member has made me feel that it is worthwhile to continue to be part of this community. I have seen in my own case the huge influence of the education I received, which made me a better spine surgeon, but I should also mention that interacting with colleagues and friends worldwide has made me a better professional and a better human being.

The greatest value of our organization lies in ourselves, the people, you as members, the fellows, the faculty group, those that decide to become part of the governing structure of the organization in each national chapter, those who are on the Regional Board and, of course, the people in our office who, with their work make our life simpler, so that whenever a course or activity ends, we can proudly be sure that we have offered the best to each participant. We hope that this participant will become a member, a member who will remain active and help us continue transforming this great organization that daily touches our lives and those of our patients.

Congresses
and exhibitions

Participation in events all over Latin America is an important way to present the organization and a great opportunity to contact our members. The support of the local chapters was essential for planning national events and to communicate them to the local public. The additional presence of international key opinion leaders at many of our events was a further factor that caught the attention of our public.
